Miriam Barbosa

Miriam is a Specialized Master Trainer for both the Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis methods. She is a former member of the Martha Graham Dance Company, and currently is on faculty at the Martha Graham School and The Alvin Ailey School.  She was a Dance Professor with the University of South Carolina Department of Theater & Dance for several years.  Miriam holds an MFA in Architecture & Urbanism from the University of Fine Arts of Sao Paulo/Brazil, where she also received her Classical Ballet Training. She has developed a unique pedagogic vocabulary for body conditioning, injury prevention, skeleton alignment, balance and overall strength & flexibility directed towards the dancers’ body architecture educating dance teachers worldwide. She also is a Co-Creator of the popular Gyrotonic Applications for Dancers 1 & 2 Continuing Education Courses which she presents regularly at Body Evolutions.
